LA CEDRIERE BARBE
A FAMILY MATTER
Born into a family of farmers, Gabriel Barbe represents the 4th generation of cultivators on the island of Laval. For having grown up on the farm, he took over from his grandfather Gérard Barbe in 2006, and established La Cédrière Barbe. The land constituted then of about 8000 Thuja occidentalis.
As demand grew, he established a turnkey planting service and a point of sale for his clients, mostly consisting of individuals, of landscapers, and of nurseries. In 2009, his wife Marilyn joined the ranks of the company. Their determination was rewarded in 2010, while La Cédrière Barbe became finalist at the Gala Dunamis, presented by the Chambre de commerce et de l’industrie de Laval.
Several varieties have been put into production ever since in order to meet the needs of their growing clientele. The land of 27 acres now consists of nearly 100 000 specimens. The acquisition of a neighboring lot in 2017 increased the area to 43 acres, and production levels to nearly 150 000 cedars. Continuous improvement and eco-responsible cultivation are at the core of homeowners' concerns. Over the years, the optimization of their equipment as well as of production techniques allowed the company to distinguish itself within the industry.
La Cédrière Barbe sits at an agri-environmental consultation table from the city of Laval, and generously offers tours and workshops to training centers working in the field. Its team consists of experienced horticulturists, and frequently collaborates with agronomists in order to offer its customers a personalized service, and products of great quality. Whether you're looking for single-trunk cedar, dense cedar hedge, or ornamentals, La Cédrière Barbe is committed to providing you with the best product possible.
